FAIR TRADE

FAIR TRADE?

Let’s face it, Fair Trade is oftentimes used as a clever marketing slogan. What does Fair Trade actually mean? It’s supposed to mean a way of shopping and doing business differently. Whether you’re a shopper choosing a leather bag, a coffee roaster selecting the perfect beans, or a fruit trader sourcing bananas – we all participate in global supply chains. The Fair Trade designation helps you know that artisans and farmers get a fair deal in making and growing their goods. It is an independent sustainability certification that ultimately manifests as a Fair Trade logo on the packaging of your favorite foods, clothing, jewelry, and even soccer balls. However, just because the artisan or farmer gets paid a fair wage and can eat that day, is it enough?

REGENERATION

Here at Savana Republic, we strive to take Fair Trade a step further. We believe in helping individuals and communities to thrive, not just survive.

One of the core goals of capitalism is profitability achieved through efficiency and oftentimes, through exploitation of resources. This Exploitative Capitalism often comes at a huge price in terms of human suffering and environmental disasters. Moving towards Fair Trade is a worthy goal. However, we believe it’s better to renew and revitalize humanity through Regenerative Capitalism. This concept may come at a cost in terms of bottom-line dollars, however, in the big picture, the payoff is great! Imagine artisans and farmers thriving while our Earth’s natural resources are improved instead of turning into wastelands; water and air remain clean and pure, soil is dark, rich, and alive! Our product prices may be a bit higher than industrial brands because we invest more into helping humanity and the Earth thrive, not just survive.

We promise to do our part in conducting business in an ethical manner, including supporting issues across the trade like protecting workers’ rights, banning child labor, keeping the Earth beautiful and pollution free.

Our supply chain practices include:

  • Collaborating with suppliers who adhere to our strict ethical standards, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and compliance with local labor laws.
  • Engaging in long-term partnerships with suppliers, allowing for better transparency, traceability, and accountability within the supply chain.
  • Seeking certifications from recognized organizations that verify our commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable practices.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving our supply chain practices to align with evolving ethical standards and industry best practices.

Thank you for choosing to support best business practices through purchasing Savana Republic products!
